Jannie’s Reading Room
Jannie se Leeskamer highlights Jannie Mouton’s lifelong passion for books and reading. It is home to his personal book collection which is now made accessible to the public to read or use for research purposes.
Mouton’s book collection is the largest private Afrikaans collection of its kind; with more than 3000 books (and expanding), it spans 100m horizontally! Mouton’s first love is Afrikaans literature, hence the large number of novels and poetry. The room furthermore boasts an almost complete collection of Hertzog Prize winners – a truly unique cultural treasure.
*Please note that due to heritage building restrictions, Jannie’s Reading Room is not wheelchair friendly.
