This workshop introduces the fundamentals of cyanotype printing, a historical photographic process known for its rich blue tones and its role as the origin of the term ‘blueprint’. Participants will be guided through the full process, from preparing and coating paper to exposing, developing, and rinsing prints.

Working with provided printed negatives, images, and botanicals, you’ll experiment with placing photographic imagery and natural materials directly onto sensitised surfaces. UV light for exposure will be provided, allowing you to create layered, light-driven compositions that combine image, shadow, and texture.

The session includes time to practise on fine art paper before creating finished works, giving you the chance to understand how exposure, composition, and material choice affect the final print. This workshop is ideal for beginners as well as anyone curious about alternative photographic processes and working with light, chemistry, and nature.
