Carissa (2024) is a South African coming-of-age film set in the heart of the Cederberg, following a young woman navigating identity, family and change within her close-knit community. As a luxury golf estate promises development and opportunity, it also threatens a traditional rooibos-farming way of life woven into the land, memory and spirit of generations.

The film blends fiction with a natural, almost documentary-style approach, capturing the everyday rhythms, landscapes and stories of the Wupperthal community. At its core, Carissa is about self-discovery, the pull between modern life and heritage, and the responsibilities that come with growing up.
