Join us for a fascinating conversation between Carina van der Walt and Alwyn Roux about Carina’s second collection of poetry, Frankofiel. In this personal and poetic work, she follows the footsteps of her French ancestors from Carcassonne and Paris to the Cape Winelands – a journey fuelled by curiosity, history and love.

Alwyn Roux is a poet, academic and lecturer in literary studies and creative writing at Unisa. His debut collection, Weerskyn (2024), was awarded the Eugene Marais Prize and was shortlisted for the Ingrid Jonker Prize.

Writer Carina van der Walt lives in the Netherlands. Her debut, Landluisteraar (2021), was nominated for the kykNET Rapport Prize for non-fiction. In Frankofiel, she weaves history, memory and identity into a gripping literary journey.
