Oude Leeskamer is honoured to present a special exhibition of works by Alexander Rose-Innes (1915–1996), one of South Africa’s most distinctive painters. Known for his evocative townscapes and atmospheric portrayals of everyday life, Rose-Innes developed a deeply personal visual language. His muted colour palette and sensitive brushwork captured both the melancholy and quiet poetry of the South African landscape and built environment.

This occasion is particularly significant as it marks the first time that such a substantial portion of Jannies art collection is being shared with the public. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to encounter Rose-Innes’s works in dialogue with one another, revealing the artist’s quiet mastery and the enduring relevance of his vision.

We warmly invite you to the opening celebration on Wednesday 29 October, from 18:00 to 19:30, as we gather to honour the artist and the spirit of sharing art with community.
