hypha works with fragments of the past – old, discarded footage that is gathered, reworked, and brought into new relation. Like compost, these images are not simply reused; they are transformed through processes of decay and renewal. Rather than telling a clear, linear story, the film unfolds as a network. Its title refers to fungal hyphae – thread-like structures that connect, break down, and regenerate organic matter. In a similar way, the film connects images across time, allowing meaning to emerge through association rather than narrative. The material itself carries visible traces of age: scratches, stains, and distortions. These are not flaws, but part of the film’s language. Decay becomes both subject and method. Time in hypha loops and stutters, echoing the way memory and loss operate. The past returns in fragments, unresolved and alive. In this way, hypha becomes a living archive – one that reveals decay not as an ending, but as a condition for transformation.
