Join us to see Franklin Sonn in conversation with Michael le Cordeur at the launch of his impressive autobiography, Karooseun van Vosburg.

The book tells the story of this freedom fighter icon’s formative years in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, after being born in Vosburg in the Karoo in 1939. Sonn made a lifelong contribution to education and justice as a teacher, school inspector, principal, rector of the former Peninsula Technikon and president of the Cape Teachers Association.

A committed opponent of apartheid, he was appointed by President Nelson Mandela in 1995 as South Africa’s first black ambassador to the US. He was also chancellor of the University of the Free State and received more than a dozen honorary doctorates.
