Growing dehumanization in the cyber-dominated world runs like an electrical cord through the second poetry anthology by Martina Klopper. In the first part, “Bionies”, human relationships and even memories are reconfigured, reorganized and rethreaded. In the second part, “Biologies”, the difficult return to the human and humane is explicated. Kuborg, then, offers a reading experience and adventure on more than one level. The poems challenge the reader to translate the machine-like into human terms. Martina Klopper initially studied music and subsequently graduated with an MA degree in Creative Writing.
Her debut in 2010, entitled Nadoodse Ondersoek, and publication of her poems in other anthologies, signalled the arrival of a powerful creative voice. Martina lives in Koringberg in The Western Cape. She will be in conversation with Jonathan Amid about poetry, her anthology Kuborg and about the relationship between man and machine.
Wednesday 23 October from 15:30 to 17:00 in Jannie se Leeskamer.
