We proudly present the book launch of Kwaailappies by Dr Ronel van Oort on Saturday, the 23rd of August in Jannie se Leeskamer.

As a retired lecturer at the North-West University, Dr Van Oort has dedicated her career to researching the inclusive history of Afrikaans. In Kwaailappies, she brings this story to life for young readers – from Khoi words and slave stories to ghoema music and the origin of the “Taalmonument”.

With colourful illustrations by Maggie de Vos, the book offers a fresh and accessible look at where Afrikaans really comes from – through stories, facts, maps and fun tunes.
