Come and join us on the 25th of November at 18:00 in Jannie se Leeskamer, where Prof. Louise Viljoen will be in conversation with Nathan Trantraal and Ryan Pedro.

This year’s Jan Rabie-Rapport Prize for a debut or second prose work was awarded to Nathan Trantraal for Die man wattie kinnes vang. This work is described as narratively complex, with masterful visual and literary storytelling techniques.

After first reading Trantraal’s Chokers en survivors, Ryan Pedro thought he could also write a book that might mean something to someone, somewhere. Trantraal, in turn, describes Pedro’s work as “craftsmanship vanne violin maker, ennie cool vanne underground hip-hop artist”.

“Ryan Pedro’s Pienk ceramic-hondjies is a collection that expands the world and scope of Afrikaans poetry.” – Danie Marais
