On Saturday the 18th of July we celebrate Mandela Day surrounded by the immersive murals in our current exhibition. For 67 minutes, we will explore stories, discover new worlds, and celebrate the magic of books. With one eye on a clock counting down the 67 minutes, we will read, listen, dream, laugh, and embark on adventures through rhymes and stories. Madiba once said, “Reading allows us to travel to many places, meet many people, and understand the world.”

The reading marathon will be led by Magdel Vorster, a children’s book ambassador and reviewer. With her passion for children’s and young adult literature, and her experience introducing young readers to the joy of books and storytelling, she creates a reading experience that will stay with you.

This special reading morning is designed for children aged 8–10, but we invite everyone to join us for this memorable reading marathon in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
