Charl-Pierre Naudé is a South African poet and novelist as well as a published philosopher. The Equality of Shadows is a compelling novel – in some places uproariously funny, in others filled with deep pathos – about the vagaries of identity, love and time. It is both a translation and fully-fledged ‘reimagining’ of his Afrikaans novel, Die ongelooflike onskuld van Dirkie Verwey, and functions as both meditation and sharp commentary on the creative process, identity and why stories are so important to who and what we are.
Language: Both Afrikaans and English
